Green Pill Stories - my cousin

So, bit morose: recently, a family member of mine had 3 deaths in the family.

First, his parent (longer-term cancer), then his grandma within 2 weeks, then, he found out his beloved dog had cancer.

You know I am big on:

  • being real about feelings

  • MEN being real about their feelings.

Having lost my mom at 17, I had tons of psychotherapy & bereavement therapy.

He is a bit different, but was really losing his shit (suicidal) after he found out the dog got sick.

Stopped working. Stayed at home all the time. Not sleeping.

When I heard the news, I drove to NYC, picked him & the dog & his gf up, and we buried the dog here at the lake.

Remember 2 weeks ago, I shared an epigenetics podcast episode?

Well, I reached out to the geneticist, Dr. Rechavi, to be on my pod: he replied!!

Just nine months after finishing a popular second term and passing power to his hand-picked successor, William Howard Taft, Roosevelt used his status as a global celebrity — he was, arguably, the most famous man in the world — to stage a highly publicized journey to east Africa in search of specimens for the new National Museum of Natural History back in Washington, D.C….Seeing for himself the mysteries of Buganda, first visited only decades earlier by European explorers, was one of Roosevelt’s personal goals…

Unlike Wakanda, there were no scientists developing space-age technologies from hidden laboratories. But in many other ways, Buganda mirrored its fictional counterpart. It was a powerful precolonial state and society whose history looked back over 600 years. Long before the signing of the Declaration of Independence, Buganda had developed a form of democratic governance, boasting a parliament, courts of appeal and sites of public healing…read more

[Theodore] Roosevelt offered the most forceful advocacy for Black equality of any white political leader of his generation.

Sponsored by...me!

It all started when I asked a new personal training client whether she wanted to me to "run her life". 3 months later, we trained 3x a week, but she also texted me daily, we went to Whole Foods together, I tracked all her sleep, made her "eat this/not that" take out menus, and she lost 35 lbs, went to therapy and started feeling confident.

Deep Dive - Lessons from Cold Calling & Dating

What do dating & sales have in common, and what can we learn?

Many of you know that, outside of kicking your ass in the gym, my main hustle has been B2B sales, specifically in financial services.

Sales requires a lot of…drumroll…cold calling.

Cold calling is a lot like dating.

Most single people, if you put them across the table from someone they’re into, won’t fuck it up royally. They’ll do their best to get to know the other person, and, if they like them, try to make the feeling mutual.

The problem:

Most of us don’t like putting themselves out there to get the first date.
