Green Pill 016: Tough Family Convos | Science-Backed Walking Protocol | Podcast Launch!
"If You’re Not Taking Care Of Your Sleep, Exercise And Nutrition, You’re Not Giving Yourself A Fighting Chance Against Depression And Anxiety."

Happy Memorial Day weekend, fitfam!
This week's resources to improve your life, and get you where you want to be.
Green Pill Podcast Announcement!
I believe health should be simple for everyday people.
We all have health problems in our families, and my family has their fair share.
I initially started green pill to be like a version of red pill/blue pill.
“How to have tough conversations about health with your family”, or “you need to go to therapy”, “you are developing dementia”, or worse…
I have since expanded the idea to community, and our country at-large.
To facilitate simplicity and open dialogue, I am creating a forum.
From individual action through to national policy, guests like philanthropists, MDs, athletes, investors, PhDs & entrepreneurs share their work in health and their why - let's do this together. Learn more.
Green Pill Stories - my mentor
So, one of my long-time mentors, who has helped me sooooo much in my life, finally asked me to be his health coach.
I am honored and touched that he is trusting me.
Most importantly, it is kind of hard to juggle multiple ROLES in our relationships.
He is a mentor, friend, business partner and now…my coaching client.
The only way to do that successfully is to set expectations & boundaries.
Highlights of the Week
Meme of the Week:

Health Hacks I’m Testing: Adaptogens
You may have heard of Lions’s Mane, Ashwaganda or various mushrooms.
I have been taking them daily for about 45 days to help my stress levels.
From the Cleveland Clinic:
Adaptogens are active ingredients in certain plants and mushrooms that may impact how your body deals with stress, anxiety and fatigue. Plants and mushrooms provide adaptogenic actions. When consumed, these plants target specific stressors in your body.
The goal of taking adaptogens is to return your body back to a state of balance (homeostasis). The herbal action in adaptogens increases or decreases chemical reactions within your body.
For example, if you’re stressed (elevated cortisol), an adaptogen will respond by reducing cortisol levels. If you experience chronic fatigue with low cortisol levels, an adaptogen will increase the level of cortisol in your body.
What I’m Listening To: Dr. Adam Batianeh
Dr. Bat lays out the reason he aims for 8K steps daily. He goes through a few peer reviewed studies. Dr. Bat specifies the type of walking to do: best in silence, nature and relatively fast.
Stuck on IG? One.sec app cut my use from 45min→15min day. (no affiliate)
What I’m Reading: Kiva Dickinson
Kiva, one of the first episodes to be soon released in my Green Pill podcast, is an investor in early-stage healthy food companies.
Some of his successful investments as a VC include LiquidIV, Mid-Day Squares & Mud/Wtr.
A lot of Kiva’s writing about food-cos is on his Medium
Don’t miss our talk from the front-lines of changing the way our country eats.
Quote(s) I’m Loving:
I apologized to my boss at work this week for not taking feedback super well. His reply:
You are growing - as we all are!
Sponsored by…me!
Feel like you know exactly what to do to be “on it” - and feel your best - but need accountability?
That’s where I come in. My clients already know what to do, typically, but appreciate having someone:
track their biometric data
keep them accountable
give them action items
supporting them with encouragement
Deep Dive - n/a
No Deep Dive this week! Getting to start my Memorial Day weekend.
Thanks for reading.
Your feedback really helps! This takes me an hour to put together^^
